브랜든 플라워스는 그룹 킬러의 리드 보컬리스트이자 핵심 멤버로 알려졌다. 그가 2010년도 솔로 앨범 "Flamingo"(2010년 9월 3일 발매)의 프로모션 곡으로 싱글을 먼저 대중에게 선을 보였다. 영국의 라디오 방송국에서 "Crossfire" 곡을 대대적을 들려주게 되고 이것을 계기로 대중과 친숙하게 다가 선 곡으로 알려지고 있다. 플라워스가 직접 작사, 작곡을 했던 노래였다. 싱글로 앞면에서는 "Crossfire" 곡이 수록되어 있고 뒤면에는 "On The Floor (2.0)" 으로 승부를 걸었다.

그는 싱글 앨범을 통해서 그가 말하고자 하는 노래의 인생에 대해서 짧게 서술하고 있었다. 그의 삶이 노래이고 인생이었음을 고백하듯이 대중을 향해서 도전장과도 같았던 노래를 선을 보였다.

"Crossfire" 들어보면 그룹 킬러의 기존의 노래와 비슷한 분위기를 풍긴다. 이것이 브랜든의 스타일인 것 같다. 감수성이 풍부한 보컬로 사람들의 마음을 움직이고 있었다. 우리는 노래 가사말을 이해하지 않아도 그의 떨리는 보컬의 울림에 대해서 말할 수가 있다. 즉 노래는 그의 인생이고 듣고 공감하면서 가슴 사무치게 미치도록 만족을 얻어 갈 그런 노래가 아녔던가.

잠시, 뮤직비디오를 보게 되면 대충 노래 가사말을 이해를 못해도 어떤 상황인지 알 수가 있을 것이다. 그렇다. 노래가 주는 힘은 위대하며 가사말을 몰라도 그냥 느낌으로 전달되는 것이다. 일일이 해석을 하지 않아도 될 그런 노래가 브랜던 플라워스가 들려주는 노래였다.

B면에 있었던 곡으로 차분히 가슴을 가라 앉히고 조용히 눈을 감고 들어도 좋을 그런 노래였다. 떨림이 없이는 들을 수가 없었던 그의  멜로디가 인터넷이라는 랜선을 타고 리듬은 그렇게 흘러갔다. 조용히 다가오고 나도 모르게 마음을 노래에 의탁할 수밖에 없었던 그런 진정성이 담긴 곡이었다. 그래서 좋았다. 

 

이런 밤에 같이 들어보면 좋을 그대를 위한 맞춤형의 노래가 여기에 있다.

사랑스러운 그대들을 위한 울림으로 다가선 노래였다.
