빅히트 앤트테이먼트사가 4월 12일 자로 내놓았던 방탄소년단의 앨범은 신기록을 남겼다. 60년대 멍키스 이후로 최 단기간 앨범 차트 순위 1위를 나타냈었다. 티저 노래로 나왔던 "작은 것을 위한 시"는 발표되자 24시간 내의 최고의 다운로드와 유튜브 최고의 조회수로 세계 기네스북에 오르는 쾌거를 자랑하기도 했다. 방탄소년단의 이번 앨범을 통해서 그들이 말하고자 하는 메시지가 무엇인지 노래를 들어 보면서 고민을 해봤다.
필자의 생각은 세 가지의 의미가 담겨있다고 본다.
1. 정신적인 그들의 마음의 세계를 들여다보는 듯했다.
2. 그들은 "Home", "Mikrokosmos" 두곡을 팬들에게 헌정을 했다. 곡을 통해서 전달되는 편안한 쉼터와도 같은 그런 느낌이 팬으로 받고 있음을 알게 된다.
3. 그리스 신화적인 인물이었던 디오니소스가 방탄으로 재탄생되어 예술적 감각으로 다가왔다.
이렇게 그들의 앨범의 콘셉트를 보게 되면 창조적인 노력과 자신이 누구인가를 찾고자 하는 영혼의 울림을 노래로 표현한 "영혼의 지도"라는 타이틀이었다. 그들의 앨범 제작은 피와 땀의 결실로 이루어진 노력의 산 증거물이었다. 그래서 특별히 소중하게 와 닿았던 노래들로 구성이 되었다. 소중한 곡 한곡씩 들어 보면서 그들의 마음을 읽어 내려가 보도록 하겠다. 여러분 준비됐는가?

BTS' album, which was released on April 12 by Big Hit Entertainment, has set a new record.
It had topped the charts in the shortest time since the Monkees in the 1960s.
"Poetry for the Small",a teaser song, was released, boasting the best downloads in 24 hours
and the best YouTube hits in Guinness world records. Through BTS' latest album,
we listened to the song and thought about what they were trying to say.
I think that my ideas have three meanings.
1. It seemed to look into the spiritual world of their minds.
2. They dedicated two songs, "Home" and "Mikrockos", to their fans.
They find that the feeling similar to a comfortable rest area, delivered through the song,
is being received by the fans.
3. Dionysus, a Greek mythical figure, was reborn as BTS and came up with an artistic sense.
When I saw the concept of their album, I realized that was the title, "The Map of the Soul",
was about creative effort and the soul sounding desire to find who they are.
Their album production was proof of their hard work with blood and sweat.
So it was composed of songs that were especially precious.

BTS (방탄소년단)-Intro : Persona
랩몬스터의 깊은 내면의 세계로 청중을 인도하면서 자신이 누구인가에 대해서 랩으로 속시원히 정의를 내리듯 말해준다. 내가 누구인지를 알고 싶어 하는 한 영혼의 마음을 읽어 내려가는 듯하다. 바로 이것이 그들이 말하는 영혼의 지도중 한 일부분으로 우리는 노래를 들으면서 그 세계를 방문하는 첫 발걸음을 내딛게 된다. 노래 가사말을 들어보면 랩몬스터의 영혼적 방황과 고민을 엿보게 된다.

앨범의 두 번째 노래로 나왔었고 티저로 동영상이 나왔을 때, 많은 사람들의 사랑을 한순간에 받고도 압도한 매력이 넘치는 곡이었다. 그들의 댄스 동작은 사랑스러운 느낌의 콘셉트로 동영상의 배경과 잘 어울려졌다. 사랑에 빠진 한 소년의 모습이 풍경처럼 펼쳐지는 아름다운 멜로디 었다.
It was the second song from the album, and, when the video was released on the teaser,
it was a catchy song that overwhelmed many people even.
It was loved instantly. Their dance moves are a lovely concept
that goes well with the background of the video.
A boy in love was a beautiful melody that unfolded like a landscape.
BTS (방탄소년단) - Mikrokosmos
우주의 별을 방탄소년단은 팬들인 아미를 향해서 들려주고 있었다. 방탄소년단은 아미의 가슴에 별처럼 남게 되는 아름다운 곡이었다. 그들은 반짝이는 그 별처럼 우리들 안에서 빛이 나고 있었다. 위의 곡은 아미를 위한 팬서비스 헌정 곡으로 알려지고 있다. 그래서 팬 입장에서는 아주 반가운 곡이었다. 그래서인지 위의 곡의 끌림은 무한대 었다.
BTS was playing the stars of the universe toward its fans, Army.
Mikrokosmos was a beautiful song that was left like a star in Army's heart.
The band were shining in us like the twinkling star.
The above song is known as a fan service tribute song for Army.
So it was a great song for fans. Perhaps that's why the attraction of the song was infinite.
BTS (방탄소년단) - Make It Right
Ed Sheeran이 공동작업을 한 노래로서 의미가 있는 곡으로 다가왔다. 그루브 한 감각이 있는 멜로디로 친숙하게 느껴진다. 지민의 멋진 보컬이 돋보였고 나의 감각이 살아나는듯하다.
Ed Sheeran's collaboration came as a meaningful song.
It feels familiar, with the melody having a sense of groove.
Jimin's great vocals stood out and my senses seemed to come alive.

어려운 일정 속에서도 방탄소년단의 쉼을 주는 곳이 바로 집이었다. 그들에게는 팬들의 응원이 큰 힘이 되고 위로함을 얻게도 된다. 그래서 위의 곡도 팬들의 위한 헌정 곡으로 내놓았다. 영혼의 쉼터는 바로 집이라는 곳이며 그곳에서 방탄소년단은 편안하게 쉬게 된다.
It was "Home" that gave BTS a break even in the midst of a difficult schedule.
For them, cheering from fans is a big boost and comfort.
So, the above song is also a tribute song for fans.

여섯 번째 트랙의 노래는 "Jamais Vu"는 제이홉, 정국 그리고 진이 함께 보컬을 들려주고 있다. Jamais Vu는 프랑스어로 " 결코 보지 않은" 의미가 있다. 부드러운 보컬의 하모니가 돋보였고 간간히 제이홉의 부드러운 랩도 있었다.
The sixth track's song is sung by J-Hope, Jungkook and Jin.
Jamais Vu is French for "Never seen".
The soft-voiced harmonies stood out and there was occasionally J-Hope's soft rap.

일곱 번째 트랙에 있는 디오니소스는 그리스 신화에 나오는 포도주의 신을 의미하고 있다. 랩몬스터, 슈가 그리고 제이홉이 노래 가사말에 도움을 주었다. 노래는 단순한 파티를 연상하게도 하지만 그 뒤에 숨겨진 의미는 술에 취해가듯 예술적 감각으로 다시 살아나는 그들의 모습을 연상케 한다.

It was an album that had grown up to musical maturity to fit the concept of a great album.
