Let me introduce Silkie chickens. I never saw the Silkie Chicken until I visited my brother-in-law's house in Alabama . They raised Silkie chickens for show and not to eat. My brother-in-law tried to raise chicken to eat but my niece wanted to keep them as pets. He told her that we don't eat our pets, because they have names. So, my niece Diala named all the Silkie chickens. That's the story about these Silkie chickens.
오골계 닭을 소개하겠다. 필자는 알라바마에 있는 시아주버남의 집을 방문하기 전까지는 오골계를 본 적이 없었다. 그들은 오골계를 먹기 위해서 키운것이 아니라 보여주기 위해서 길렀다. 시아주버님은 식용으로 오골계를 기르려고 했지만 필자의 조카는 그들을 애완동물로 기르기를 원했다. 그래서 내 조카인 디알라는 모든 오골계 닭의 이름 지었다. 그것이 이 오골계 닭들에 대한 이야기다.
