In the Fall season, I am excited to listen to the album entitled, "In the Court of the Crimson King". Why is this music so exciting? Because it has symbols of Autumn. When you listen to this album, it presents images of blowing wind, longing , future hopes and nostalgia. Let's follow the wind of music and go where the music and your heart takes you.

가을날 "In the Court of the Crimson King"앨범을 듣고 흥분하게 되었다. 왜 이런 음악에 흥분이 됐을까? 가을을 상징하는 음악이라서가 아닐까. 이의 앨범을 듣고 있노라면 바람이 불어 오는것과, 그리움, 미래에 대한 희망, 노스텔지어의 이미지가 전달된다. 당신의 마음이 담겨져 있는 곳을 바람이 전해지는 음악을 따라가 보자.

As you may know, this album was made in 1969 by King Crimson. It was quite sensational at that time. A lot of different genres are included in this album. It is a remarkable album indeed. Also, all the members participated in producing the album. It is rare for that to happen nowadays. Most of the songs were written by King Crimson members, except "I Talk to the Wind" and "The Court of the Crimson King", which were written by Ian McDonald and Peter Sinfield.

알다시피 위의 앨범은 1969년도 킹 크림슨 밴드에 의해서 제작되었다. 그 당시로선 흥분시킬만한 앨범으로 알려졌다. 위의 앨범은 각종 다양한 장르를 포함하고 있었다. 그 앨범은 주목을 받을만했다. 또한, 그룹 전 맴버가 앨범제작에 참여했다. 오늘날로 보자면 희귀한 현상일수 밖에 없다. 대부분의 노래 작사는 킹크림슨 맴버에 의해서 만들어졌고, 단, "I Talk to the Wind" 와 "The Court of the Crimson King"은 Ian McDonald 와 Peter Sinfiel 했었다.

King Crimson - Epitaph

The first King Crimson song that I listened to was "Epitaph". Back then, I did not know the meaning of any of the lyrics of this song. It just had a wonderful sound and led to a good mood. Now I have discovered you can connect to music with your own experience. The "Epitaph" has two parts. The first part is called "March for No Reason", which has a slow tempo and builds up full of emotion, leading to the second part of the song: "Tomorrow and Tomorrow". 

O how the music of the Fall Season overwhelms my feelings. This is what I am talking about. 

필자는 킹 크림슨의 첫번째 노래로 듣게 된 곡이 에피타였다. 그당시로선 노래의 가사말이 주는 의미도 몰랐었다. 그냥 훌륭한 음악이 주는 음률과 괜찮은 분위기에 사로 잡혔을 뿐이였다. 이제서야 발견한것은 음악은 자신의 경험과 연결된다는 것이다. "에피타"는 두 파트로 진행이 된다. 첫 도입부분은 "March for No reason"로 느린 박자로 흘러가다가 더 깊은 감정으로 이끌어 가는 두번째 파트의 노래가 "Tomorrow and Tomorrow"였다. 

오 가을날, 얼마나 음악적으로 넘치는 감정이였던가. 바로, 내가 말하고자 하는 것이다.

King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King

It sounds like blowing wind with Autumn leaves on the streets. The lead vocalist is Greg Lake. His voice is trembling with the sounds.  The tones it creates have a very distinctive feel to them. This songs describes the medieval era in a poetic way. It also has two parts.  The first part being: "The Return of the Fire Witch", and the second: "The Dance of the Puppets".

거리의 가을 낙엽이  바람으로 불어 오는듯한 소리로 다가왔다. 리더 보컬은 그랙 레이크이다. 그는 떨림이 있는 목소리를 지니고 있다. 보컬톤은 특유한 분위기의 만들고 있었다. 위의 노래는 중세시대를 시적으로 표현해서 불러주었다. 두 파트로 나누어진 노래로서, 첫 파트는 "The Return of the Fire Witch", 두번째 파트는 "The Dance of the Puppets"로 연결된다.

King Crimson - Moon Child

The song "Moon Child" uses the synthesizer sound to promote feelings of longing. There are no lyrics in this music, but you can feel it. That is what King Crimson's music is all about. They know how to create mysterious sounds to bring out a sense of deep desire in the music. "Moon Child" has two parts to it. First is "The Dream" and next "The Illusion". Now you can understand why there are only instrumentals in this music. Dream and illusion are hard to describe with lyrics. This song has the longest running time on the whole album.(Length 12:25) 

"문 차일드"노래는 신디사이즈 사운드로 그리움 느낌을 고조시키고 있었다. 노래 가사말이 없지만 느낄 수가 있는 음악이였다. 바로 킹 크림슨의 음악이 아니였던가. 그들은 깊은 음악적 욕망을 미스테리하게 만들줄을 알고 있었다. "문 차일드" 노래도 두파트로 나뉘어진다. 첫 파트가 "The Dream" 그리고 두번째 파트가 "The Illusion"이였다. 여러분도 이제야 왜 연주 음악으로 설정했는지를 이해하게 된다. 꿈과 환각은 노래 가사말로 표현하기 힘들다. 위의 노래는 앨범의 수록곡 중에서 가장 러닝타임이 긴 곡으로 알려졌다. (러닝타임 12분 25초)

King Crimson - I Talk To The Wind

How can we talk to the wind? It sounds weird but this is the musical concept of the album. Again, I had a feeling of the Autumn breeze in this song. The lyrics mention how I talk to the wind but the wind doesn't respond. Obviously, it is metaphorically speaking about sharing feelings.

어떻게 바람과 대화를 할까? 이상하게 들릴지 모르지만 이것이 그들의 앨범 컨셉이였다. 다시말하지만, 위의 노래도 가을의 미풍을 느낄수가 있었다. 노래가사말에서 바람과 대화를 시도했지만 대답이 없었다고한다. 분명 은유법으로 말하게 되는 감정의 나눔에 대한것이 아닐까한다.

King Crimson - 21st Century Schizoid Man

I would say this song has been used numerous times on movie or drama sound tracks. It shows violent actions put to music. Hard rock and Psychedelic rock sound is good to listen to. The drums and guitar make melodies of running wild into the 21st century. 

Bravo! Hear it. Feel it. This is the King Crimson I am talking about.

위의 노래는 드라마나 영화의 배경음악으로 많이 사용된 노래였다. 사운드를 들어보면 난폭함이 느껴진다. 하드락과 사이킥데릭 락의 음이 듣기 좋았다. 드럼과 기타는 21세기를 거침없이 달리는 멜로디를 창출 해냈다. 

브라보! 들어 보시라! 느껴 보시라! 이것이 내가 말하는  킹 크림슨이다.

"In the Court of the Crimson King" is the best album that King Crimson ever made. I really enjoyed their music a lot. Even when it is no longer Autumn, still emotions brought on by the music can still be overflowing. If you like music that appeals to the senses, you have the right music to listen to now. I strongly recommended this kind of music. It has a sincerity in the music of this album. How about it? Do you choose to listen?
