이렇게 하울의 움직이는 성을 같이 앉아서 보게 되었는데요. 영어로 된 더빙판으로 봤어요. 물론 원래 일본어로 보고 영어 자막을 볼 수도 있지만, 아주 유명한 분들이 성우로 출연을 한 작품이라서 보는데 아무런 불편함도 없었고 오히려 더 좋았다고 생각해요. 하울의 목소리를 담당하신 분이 유명한 영화배우 Christian Bale 했고요. 일본어 보이스 연기자는 기무라 타쿠야가 맡았습니다. 이 정도의 화려한 라인업을 자랑하는 작품이었습니다.

Although we could have watched the original Japanese with English subtitles, the dubbed version featured well‑known actors, so it was comfortable and enjoyable. Christian Bale voiced Howl in the English dub, while Takuya Kimura provided the Japanese voice—an impressive lineup.

그곳에서 하울의 심장을 가진 불의 악마 캐스퍼를 만나게 된다. 하울의 성의 청소부를 자초하면서 그곳에 머물러 마법을 풀려고 했다. 그리고 하울은 노인으로 변화된 소피를 보고 마법에 걸렸다는 사실을 알게 된다. 이웃나라 왕자가 납치되는 사건으로 전쟁을 하게 되고 마법사인 하울도 전쟁에 참여하라는 통촉장을 받는다.
There she meets Calcifer, the fire demon who holds Howl’s heart. Sophie becomes the castle’s housekeeper and stays there, hoping to break the spell. When Howl sees Sophie transformed into an old woman, he realizes she has been cursed. Meanwhile, the neighboring kingdom’s prince is kidnapped, tensions escalate toward war, and Howl—being a wizard—is summoned to participate in the conflict.
하울은 짐승의 모습으로 변화된 것을 소피는 보게 되지만, 그에 대한 동정이 가득하다. 그렇게 하울의 성에 머물면서 청소부로서 임무를 다하지만, 하울에 대한 애증의 관계로 발전하게 되고 사랑에 빠지게 된다. 이기적인 하울은 사랑하고 지켜야 할 대상이 소피라는 것을 자각하게 되고 사랑에 빠진다.
Sophie sees Howl transformed into a beast, and she feels sympathy for him. While staying in Howl’s castle and doing her duties as housekeeper, their relationship evolves from ambivalence to love. Self‑absorbed at first, Howl comes to realize that Sophie is the one he loves and must protect, and he falls in love with her.
