어린시절 크리스마스의 추억이 하나 있었다. 작은아버지의 딸이였던 사촌언니가 들려준 산타 이야기는 그야말로 동심속의 이상형 할아버지였으며, 혹시나 해서 산타 할아버지가 선물을 가져다 줄것이라는 기대감에 잠을 설쳐 댄 일이 생각났다. 그런 산타의 존재를 잊고 있었던 성인이 되어버린 나이였지만 마음은 동화 속에 살고 있었다. 바로 그런 기적이 오늘 발생하게 되었다. 상상도 하지 못했던 일이였다.

나의 남편이 내 몰래 비밀 산타로 둔갑한 사건이였다.
요즘들어 아내의 지민 덕후질이 심해지고 있음에도 불구하고 아마존에서 구입했던 달력이 취소 되었다는 메일이 도착했다. 즉 남편의 카드를 사용했는데 그것이 옛날 카드의 번호로 연결되어 사용불가 카드로 둔갑하게 된 사건이였다. 그런 사실을 깜짝같이 모르고 있었다. 그래서 남편님께 솔직 고해성사를 했다.

Despite the worsening condition of his wife's fall for Jimin, an e-mail has arrived that the calendar she bought on Amazon has been canceled. In other words, I used my husband's card and it was connected to the number of the old card, making it unusable. The facts were out in the open. However, I made a frank confession to my husband.

남편은 마눌이 말하는 아양을 떠는 말이 싫지는 않았던 모양이였다. 그래서 오늘이 비밀 산타가 되셔서
반가운 선물을 안겨주는 사건을 만드셨다.
결론은 남편님이 직접 자신의 돈을 투자해서 지민덕후질을 하는 아내에게 크리스마스 선물을 해주었다는 것이다. 얼마나 멋진 남편인가! 하하하 이렇게 글을 쓰다보니 또 남편 자랑질로 묘하게 변하고 있었다.

또 한번더 아양을 떠는 말을 해댔다.
이런말은 백번을 들어도 남편님의 귀를 거슬리지 않는 사랑의 언어라는 것을 깨달았다.
남자는 여자하기 나름이에요! 라고 말했던 그 광고를 기억하시는가. 아마도 그런 상황이 필자의 주변에서 일어나고 있었다. 나의 사랑스러웠던 지민만큼이나 멋졌던 남편의 고마운 배려심에 감탄하고 말았던 행복의 크리스마스 선물이였다.

I once again made a cajoling remark.
I realized that this was a language of love that would not offend my husband's ears a hundred times.
Do you remember the ad that said, "How women should treat their man?" Perhaps that was happening around me. It was a Christmas present of happiness that I admired my husband's attitude, which was as wonderful as my lovely Jimin.

이렇게 모두 즐거워 했던 크리스마스 선물 공개 시간이 끝났다. 그리고 우리가족은 행복의 미소를 오래동안 여운으로 남기면서 크리스마스 하루를 시작했다.

언제부터인가 크리스마스날이 되면 남편님은 가족을 모아놓고 찰리브라운 크리스마스 만화를 같이 감상하는 시간을 갖게 되었다. 물론 필자는 만화상영 도중에 잠을 자는 사태가 발생했다. 잠에서 깨어나니 남편님이 하시는 말이 있었다.

추억은 하나의 그림자처럼 우리 주변을 따라 다닌다. 그 추억이라는 그림자가 당신의 삶을 지탱해주는 활력소가 되고 있음을 알게된다. 가족이란 특별한 선물을 안겨다준 하나님께 감사함을 전한다.
