미국은 자원봉사를 하는 많은 단체들이 있다. 그중하나가 소방관 자원봉사를 하는 일이였다.
아들 가온이가 소방대원으로 자원봉사를 한지도 횟수로 1년이 되어갔다. 올해도 열심히 자원봉사를 하고 있었다. 오늘의 이야기는 아들이 자원봉사를 하는 소방대원과 관련된 내용이다.
There are many organizations in the United States that volunteer. One of them was volunteering as a firefighter. It's been a year since my son Gaon volunteered as a firefighter. He have been volunteering hard this year. Today's story is about a firefighter whose son does volunteer work.
※참고로 미국은 만16세가 되면 자원봉사 소방관을 신청할수가 있다. 그리고 의료보험이 자원봉사가 됨과 동시에 해택을 받게 된다. 미국에서 가장 뛰어난 의료 해택을 받고 있는 소방관이였다. For your information, the U.S. can apply for a volunteer firefighter at the age of 16. And as soon as the health insurance becomes a volunteer. It was one of America's finest medical-treatment firefighters.
가온이가 일하는 소방소 풍경이였다. It was a scene from the fire station where Gaon worked.
아침 7시가 되어 아들이 현관문을 열고 들어왔다. 밤새 친구집에서 있다가 아침 밥을 먹으로 들어오는줄 알았다. 들어서자 밥을 달라고 한다. 그래서 계란후라이와 베이컨을 구워서 줬다. 그랬더니 피곤하닌까 쉬고 난 후에 먹겠다고 했다. 뭔가 수상했다. 남편께 물어 봤더니, 어제 밤 11시에 소방소 호출을 받고 밤새도록 불 진압을 하다가 왔다고 한다.
At 7 a.m., my son opened the front door and came in. I thought he was staying at his friend's house all night and came in for breakfast. He asks for food when he comes in. So I baked fried eggs and bacon and gave it to him. Then he thought he was tired, so he said, "I would eat after taking a rest. " I got something. I asked my husband, and he was called to the fire station at 11 p.m. last night, and he was fighting the fire all night.
한편으로 자랑스러운 아들에게 질문을 했다. On the other hand, I asked a question to my proud son.
밤새도록 불 진압하느라 고생 많았지? 기분이 어떘니? You had a hard time fighting the fire all night, didn't you? How did you feel?
뜨거웠어요. It was hot.
소방관의 경험을 이야기 해보라고 말했더니 난데없이 뜨거웠다고 표현하는 아들때문에 웃었다.
아들의 몸무게보다 더 나가는 60파운드가 되는 장비와 옷을 입고 불과 사투를 6시간씩 벌렸다고 하니 어느정도인지 실감 하게 되었다. 로컬 뉴스에 나온다면서 티브를 보라고 말해준 아들은 피곤함이 밀려 왔던지 샤워를 한 후에 그의 방으로 사라졌다.
When I told him to tell me about the experience of the fire fighter, I laughed because of my son, who described it as hot.
I realized how much it was that he spent six hours in a row wearing equipment and clothes that weighed more than 60 pounds than my son. The son who told me to watch TV on local news either felt tired or disappeared into his room after taking a shower.
아들 넌 정말 대단해. 하나님이 네게 준 고마운 선물이란 것을 늘 깨닫는다.
Son, you're amazing. I always realize that God gave you a thank-you gift.

11시 40분에 불이났고10개의 소방소에서 50명의 소방대원이 불과 사투를 벌렸다. 이곳은 자동차 정비와 타이어를 판매하는 가게 였다. 6대의 차와 2000개의 타이어가 불속에 사라지고 여러 화학제품들로 인해서 불길을 잡기 어려웠다고 한다. 건물은 완전 불로인해 내려 앉은 상태였다.
401 Tire and Auto, in Linden, caught fire around 11:40 p.m. There were at least six cars, 2,000 tires, oil, gas and other flammables in the building. About 50 firefighters from 10 departments in Cumberland and Harnett counties responded.
