건즈 앤드 로즈의 리드기타리스트로 유명한 슬래시의 솔로 두번째 앨범인 apocalyptic love는 2012년 5월에 발매된 앨범이며, myles kennedy가 보컬에 참여해주었다. 액스로즈의 보컬과는 사뭇 다른 음색을 지니고 있지만, 슬래시의 기타와 너무나 잘 어울리는 그런 보컬의 음색을 지녔다. 둘의 조화가 잘 이루어진 앨범에서 "더 이상 영웅은 없다"의 곡은 유일하게 Eric Valentine 프로듀스가 곡을 작곡했었다. 나머지 곡은 마일스 캐네디에 의해서 작사되고 슬래시의 작곡으로 편성되었다.
슬래시가 마일스 캐네디의 보컬을 듣고 정말 놀랄만하다고 찬사를했단다. 그리고 마일스 캐네디는 4 옥타브를 넘는 화려한 보컬의 음색을 지니고 있다. 그리고 그는 건즈앤로즈의 다섯명의 맴버가 함께하는 록컨롤 명예전당에서 보컬 솜씨를 뽐내었다. 슬래시는 그만의 개성있는 보컬 스타일로 건즈 앤드 로즈의 노래를 자신의 곡으로 탄생시키고 말았다고 극찬을 했었다.
이런 두 명의 핵심 맴버가 같이 손을 잡고 만들어내었던 공동작업의 땀나는 노력이 만들어내었던 멋진 슬래시의 두번째 앨범의 다섯번째 트랙의 노래로 "더 이상 여웅은 없다" 노래는 제목이 시사하는 바대로 우리 시대를 대변해주는 영웅의 이미지를 찾아 볼 수 없다고 말해주는 것 같다.
마치 세상을 향해 외치는 소리.. 우리에겐 더 이상의 영웅이란 존재하지 않아. 영웅도 적과 손을 잡고 말았지. 마치 세상과도 타협을 하고 있는 우리 정치인들을 향해 외치는 목소리와도 같다. 오늘날의 정치의 모습이 이와 흡사하지 않을까. 그들은 자신의 이익에만 급급하고 더 이상의 시민을 대변하는 목소리는 찾아 볼수가 없다.
