A new video notification by Daniel Darling was posted on Instagram about pole dancing. When I clicked on the video, I saw the scene about Daniel Darling's hard work on the dance pole.. I comment about his video, and he replied. He is a pole dance instructor in New York City. For your information, he was a former writer's polo dace instructor. He moved to New York City for personal reasons. Since then, I don't have enthusiasm for pole dance anymore, and the desire of pole dancing has faded away

인스타그램에 폴댄스 Daniel Darling의 새로운 동영상 알림이 떴다. 직접 클릭을 해서보니, Daniel Darling이 열심히 폴댄스를 하는 장면을 동영상으로 담은것이였다. 안부의 댓글을 남겼는데, 지금은 뉴욕시티에서 폴댄스 강사를 하고 있단다. 참고로 그는 예전 필자의 폴댄스를 가르쳐 주시던 분이셨다. 개인적 사정으로 뉴욕시티로 이사를 가셨다. 그후로부터 폴댄스에 대한 열의도 식어갔고 할마음이 사라져 갔다.

When I cleaned up my oldest daughter Aara's room early in the morning, I saw the dance pole that my husband had bought me. It is not used often. In the evening my husband pointed out the pole and said.

이른 새벽에 큰딸 아라의 방을 치우고 나서 보니 구석방에 남편님이 폴댄스를 하라고 직접 사준 폴댄스 봉대가 보였다. 아직은 거의 사용을 안하고 있다. 남편님이 저녁에 폴댄스 봉대가 있는것을 가르치면서 말하신다.

저기 봐.. 댄스 봉대가 당신을 기다리고 있어.

Look over there... the dance pole is waiting for you.

아닌것 같은데?

I don't think so.

어째든 다시 봉춤을 할꺼야? 안할꺼야?

Anyway, are you going to do the pole dance again? Aren't you going to do it?

He used the word "try," but as I got older, I found that such aggressive movement was not for me. So I said to him, I would learn jazz or ballet, but he told me to practice pole dancing at home. I should learn ballet next year. Desire is a reality where there is nothing achieved.

말은 시도라는 단어를 썼지만 사실 나이도 있고하니 이런 과격한 운동이 필자한테는 맞지 않는다는 사실을 알았다. 그래서 재즈나 발레를 배우겠다고 했더니, 그러면 봉춤 연습은 집에서 하라고 하신다. 내년에는 발레를 배워야겠다. 욕심은 많고 이루어 놓은것이 없는 현실이다. ㅠㅠ

봉춤 배우는 수업시간은 대충 이러하다. 선생님이 가르치고 그대로 따라하는 것이다. 몸이 유연해야 하는데 몸치인지라 봉춤은 무리가 간다.

Pole dance is like this in class. The teacher teaches and the students imitate what he does. The body needs to be flexible, but it is hard to perform the dance because it is physically demanding.
