Tomorrow, we leave Ethiopia to come back home to the states. We are so excited to finally bring our daughter home. Ethiopia is a wonderful place. Yesterday, we went sightseeing. We went to the top of the mountain, Indoto, here in Addis. There was an old Orthodox church there that was built by the Ethiopian king in 1872. Though it was old, inside it was painted with many murals depicting events in Christianity. Also, there was an old "hewn rock" church there that was the church before the new one was built in 1872. According to legend, the Ark of the Covenant was kept there.
After that we went to a scenic lookout where we could look down and see all of Addis below. We bought a nice Ethiopian painting from the little art gallery there. Then, we went to the Museum of Ethiopia. There we saw lots of interesting artifacts, some dating back to 1000 B.C. or more. Lastly we went shopping. It was a very busy day. Our daughter was full of energy all the time.
