“A Great Big World” was formed in New York as an American duo band. Ian Alex and Chad King, known as singer-songwriters, worked hand in hand with Epic Records to release their first album. Today, I listened to their first album, "Is There Anybody Out There?". This is an album review written on a very subjective view.
A Great Big World는 미국의 듀오밴드로 뉴욕에서 결성되었다. 싱어송 라이터로 알려진 이안 알렉스와 채드 킹이 에픽 레코드사와 손을 잡고 이렇게 그들의 첫 앨범을 내놓게 되었다. 오늘은 그들의 첫 앨범으로 알려진 "Is There Anybody Out There?"를 들어본다. 지극히 주관적인 측면에서 쓴 앨범 리뷰임을 알려드린다.
"Is There Anybody Out There?" The album was released to Epic Records in January 2014 and was composed by the group members themselves. The album was rated as the third most successful album on the Billboard album chart of the year. If you like pop, I would recommend it. In addition to the words, you can hear clear tone, and proper rhythm is in harmony with the whole flow of the album. "Say Something", which was a major billboard hit. This song had an awesome piano melody. It is their signature song and displays their empowering vocals. This album was full of feelings and the melody that the song delivered in its entirety was sufficient for capturing the listener's heart.
"Is There Anybody Out There?" 앨범은 2014년 1월에 에픽 레코드사에 내놓았으며 그룹 맴버들의 직접 자작곡으로 구성되었다. 위의 앨범은 빌보드앨범 차트에서 3위를 기록하는 상업적으로 성공을 한 앨범으로 평하고 있었다. 팝을 좋아 하시는 분이라면 적극적으로 권해드리고 싶은 앨범이며, 부담감이 없는 가사말과 더불어 적절한 리듬이 곡의 전체의 흐름과 조화를 잘 이루고 있었다. 특히 피아노 선율로 감미롭게 다가왔었던 그들의 시그네이쳐 노래라고 해도 과언이 아니였던 "Say Something"은 빌보드차트권에서 1위를 기록하는 그룹의 보컬적인 매력이 110프로 이상 발휘되었다. 이렇게 노래는 느낌이 가득하며 전체으로 곡이 전달해주는 멜로디는 충분히 마음을 사로잡기에 부족함이 없었다.

The song featured above was a collaboration with Christina Aguilera. The song won the number one spot on Billboard charts and was the 57th Grammy Award winner for best duo performance. The soft and quiet atmosphere of the song expresses regrets and longing. It has a melody to comfort our broken hearts.
위의 곡은 크리스티나 아길레라와 공동작업을 함께 해주었던 노래였다. 빌보드 차트권에서는 당당히 1위를 기록했으며 57회 그래미 어워드(미국의 최고음악상)에서는 듀오 퍼포먼스 상을 받게 된 곡이였다. 곡이 주는 부드럽고 조용한 분위기와 더불어 아쉬움이 가득한 이별곡이며 그리움이 가득 담겨진 노래는 우리들의 멍든 가슴을 위로 해줄 멜로디였다.

This song is a good listen with a light, gentle rhythm. The vocals are very soothing and comforting. A very simple beat that makes me want to move my body. The rhythm and vocal composition is well-balanced in all aspects. The synthesizer especially brings out the vocals. Pop, which is a vocal-oriented genre of music, also tells its own unique style in this way.
경쾌한 리듬으로 가볍게 들어봐도 좋을 노래로 듣기좋은 보컬이 편안하게 다가온다. 아주 간단한 리듬이 어깨를 들썩이게도 하며 보컬 위주의 곡의 구성이 리듬과 모든 면에서 조화를 잘 이루었다. 특히 신디사이저의 사운드가 보컬의 감각을 제대로 살려주고 있음을 알게된다. 보컬 위주의 곡인 팝은 이런면에서 독특한 그들만의 색깔을 알려주기도 한다.

"당신 외에는 다른 사람을 사랑하기는 싫어요"라고 했던 그들의 노래 가사말이 큰 감동으로 마음을 움직였던 노래였다. 노래 가사말이 구구절절 연인을 향해 애절하듯 그 사람만을 위한 진심을 다해 들려주었던 곡이였다. 보컬의 감미로움이 떠나간 사랑이지만 그래도 사랑하는 진심만은 알아 달라고 하소연 하듯이 말해주고 있었다. 어쿠스틱 기타와 보컬의 감수성이 잘 연결되었다.
I listened to some of their songs. First of all, their songs succeeded in bringing out the charm of a piano, a guitar, and a synthesizer to create a beautiful sound. If you like pop music, and you think that the vocals are sweet, then this is the album for you. There was nothing really special about this album, but it has a great sound. It was just an ordinary album that I uploaded because I thought that it has a great comforting sound, even if they played it safe and didn't experiment musically. All music has a single purpose for existence, and that is to capture the heart of the listener.
In that sense, I would like to ask if the above album captivates you. If so, I would say that their album is a success.
그들의 곡을 몇곡을 선곡해서 들어 보았다. 우선 그들의 곡은 피아노와 기타 그리고 신디사이져의 매력을 잘 살려내어 하나의 아름다운 사운드를 창출해내는데 성공했다. 팝이라는 말처럼 인기가 있는 곡으로 사람들에게 다가서기 위한 노력이 엿보였고 보컬의 감미로움이 좋았다고 생각된다면, 위의 앨범은 당신을 위한 곡들이 아닐까 생각해 본다. 음악적 천재성이라던가 독특한 창법은 없었다. 그냥 무난하고 누가 들어도 이런 사운드는 호감이 갈 것이라는 생각에 올려본 앨범이였다. 모든 음악은 그것이 존재하는 의미는 단 하나의 의무를 지니고 있다. 그것은 사람들의 마음을 사로잡는것이다.
