My eldest daughter, Ara, is home. She live in Sweden with her husband. This Christmas she visited the United States to see Mom and Dad. My son‑in‑law is Swedish—I can’t tell you how kind and precious he is. He’s so kind to my daughter, witty, and polite. I can imagine them living happily together. It’s true that you can tell a daughter’s happiness by looking at her son‑in‑law.
공항에 늦게 도착해서 사위와 딸을 마중을 나갔어요. 오늘따라 교통체증이 심각했어요. 2시간을 걸려서 공항에 도착하니 미리 와서 기다리고 있었네요. 딸과 사위는 피곤한 모습이 역력합니다. 맛있는 저녁을 준비해서 같이 먹고 지금은 손님방에서 쉬고 있어요. 큰딸은 변화된 집안의 장식들을 보면서 잔소리를 합니다. 오늘은 그 잔소리마저도 사랑스럽습니다.
I arrived late at the airport and went to pick up my son-in-law and daughter. Traffic was unusually bad today. It took two hours to get to the airport, and they were already waiting for me. My daughter and son-in-law looked visibly tired. We prepared a delicious dinner and had it together, and now they're resting in the guest room. My eldest daughter nags at the new decorations in the house. Today, even her nagging feels endearing.
아라가 건강하게 결혼생활하고 아내로서 역할을 잘하고 있는 것 같아서 얼마나 대견한지 모르겠네요. 예전에 아라와 함께 같이 살면서 힘든 일을 겪다 보니 오늘의 일은 그것에 대한 보상으로 느껴집니다. 모든 것이 감사의 조건이 됩니다. 큰딸이 건강한 것이 감사합니다. 사위가 딸을 많이 사랑해 주니 감사합니다. 엄마가 보고 싶다고 이렇게 먼 여행길도 서슴지 않고 찾아와 준 소중한 나의 딸에게 감사의 인사를 합니다.
I can't tell you how proud I am that Ara is living a healthy married life and fulfilling her role as a wife. We faced hardships when we lived together in the past, so today feels like a reward. Everything is a reason to be grateful. I'm thankful that my eldest daughter is healthy, that my son‑in‑law loves her so much, and that my precious daughter didn't hesitate to travel so far to see me because she missed me.
우리 딸... 사랑 그 자체였고, 지금도 여전히 아름답다. 너의 아름다운 마음을 보면 마음은 평안해지고 있단다. 사랑이 없었다면 어떻게 그 힘든 시절을 보냈을까 생각한단다. 이것이 다 하나님의 사랑이 함께 해서가 아닐까 생각한단다. 나의 소중한 보물을 주신 하나님께 감사를 드린다. 사랑은 그렇게 우리의 사이를 정의를 한다. 모녀의 관계에서 친구로 지내보려 한다. 내 마음은 딸을 품고 늘 생각한다. 아무런 사고 없이 잘 지내고 늘 하나님을 경외하는 삶을 살아가길.
Our daughter... she was love itself, and she remains beautiful even now. Seeing your beautiful heart brings me peace. I wonder how I would have gotten through those difficult times without love. I believe it's all because of God's love. I thank God for giving me this precious treasure. Love defines our relationship. I strive to be my daughter's friend. My heart always holds her close. May she be safe and well, and may she always live in awe of God.
